Are you the one?   First Engineer The First Engineer will be a key crew member on the Research Expedition Vessel currently under construction for REV Ocean. Initially, the First Engineer will also be part of the site team overseeing the building and outfitting of the vessel at a yard in Norway until Q1 2025, followed by a yacht outfitting period at a European yard before becoming operational, tentatively in the third quarter of 2026.    Key responsibilities will be: Lead and manage day to day operation in the engine department. Contribute to operation and maintenance of the ship's machinery and associated equipment including reporting in the maintenance system. Ensure the ship’s compliance with company policies and procedures as well as international, state, or local Maritime regulations within his or her area of responsibility. Ensure the ship’s compliance with International Safety Management (ISM), classification society rules, within his or her area of responsibility. Support and assist the building team during construction and outfitting of the vessel. Essential qualifications: Holding a second engineer certificate of competency (STCW III/2 unlimited) ERM Engine Room Resource Management course High Voltage course Crowd Management course Experience from similar positions on relevant vessel. Excellent English language and Communication skills Valid health certificate. Valid safety training. Desirable qualifications:   Experience from similar advanced diesel-electric multi-purpose vessels. Experience from building and outfitting complex vessels. Experience with developing and using planned maintenance systems, TM Master or similar. Personal qualities: Self-reliant and proactive in job execution, with an enthusiastic and positive interest in contributing to the health of the ocean. You are aware you play a part in the guest experience onboard. Motivated and willing to grow. You are service-minded and able to be a team player and lead and motivate teams.
